Job summary

NHS Devon ICB seeks to recruit a Community Pharmacy Primary Care Network (PCN) Engagement Lead for the Devon system, to support the delivery of the community pharmacy programme of work within the Primary Care Access & Recovery Plan (PCARP). The purpose of this role is to work with the Devon Community Pharmacy PCN Integration Lead Network to support the development of meaningful, professional, and collaborative engagement with the nationally commissioned community pharmacy services, across the local primary care system, with a focus on collaboration between general practice and community pharmacy in Devon.

Community pharmacy is an ever-changing landscape; this is an exciting opportunity to have a significant and lasting impact on the Devon system, to support contractors to embed a more integrated way of working, to advance collaboration between system partners, and help strengthen the foundations of a sustainable future for primary care.

The candidate will require knowledge of both GP practices and community pharmacy, including their clinical systems and current operational processes and challenges, and will need to be a highly motivated and organised individual with experience of planning, implementing, and adapting a complex project across a wide area with multiple stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

o Support the local implementation of the nationally commissioned community pharmacy services, primarily maximising the utilisation of the Pharmacy First Service, but also supporting the expansion of the Blood Pressure Checks Service and Pharmacy Contraception Service.

o Help develop channels of engagement between community pharmacy and PCNs, support the existing Community Pharmacy PCN Integration Lead Network in Devon and build partnership that supports integrated clinical pathways for patients.

o Offer support sessions to both contractor groups (PCN / practice and community pharmacy), deliver face-to-face training and raise awareness and share learning across the Devon system.

o Ensure high quality and consistent referrals from general practice to community pharmacy and to help trouble shoot any issues relating to the referral pathway, or any other issues associated with the national services that may arise.

o Be an active member of the Devon Pharmacy First Implementation Group; shape and prioritise key workstreams to maximise the delivery and performance of the national Pharmacy First Service within Devon, and regularly report on progress and target attainment.
