Job summary
NHS Devon is looking to appoint a Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO) to provide clinical and professional leadership to the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement agenda within the NHS Devon localities. The DCNO will deputise for our Interim Chief Nursing Officer acting on their behalf and taking decisions as appropriate. The DCNO will ensure that ICB exercises its functions effectively, economically, with good governance and in accordance with the terms of the ICB constitution.
The DCNO will be an experienced registered nurse with substantial exposure in senior leadership roles within the health care sector. They will assume professional responsibility for driving improvements alongside ensuring effective quality assurance within following workstreams:
- System Professional Nurse and AHP Leadership
- Quality Strategy, Improvement and Patient Safety
- Safeguarding
- Infection prevention control
- NHS funded care
- Women, children and young people
- Nursing and AHP Research and Innovation
- PALS and Complaints
- Continuing Healthcare
- CQC with CMO
As a member of the senior ICB Quality team, the DCNO will create the conditions for effective positive, working relationships between the ICB and provider collaboratives, including participation in committees via partner members and other local arrangements, support system wide joint working at a strategic board level with system partners.
