Job summary

Main duties of the job

By joining our team you will be helping us to achieve our key priorities over the next year;Supporting the implementing our Clinical Conditions Strategic PlanWorking across the clinical landscape to ensure improved outcomes for our local populationWorking with Local Authority and other key partners to deliver transformation programmesProviding expert clinical advice to inform decision makingWe are seeking a medical professional to join our Medical Directorate, specifcally aligned to the County Durham Local Delivery Team.The successful candidate will have medical experience and work within the local area, providing local intelligence and insight.

Job responsibilities

North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board was established in July 2022 and has made a commitment to build on the work of predecessor organisations, strengthening and broadening the multidisciplinary clinical voice in decision making across the health and care system, working with colleagues from all professional backgrounds (i.e. GPs and other medical specialities, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, mental health workers, physios, allied health professionals, dentists, optometrists and pharmacists), to shape, develop and improve services for local communities within a local authority boundary i.e. at place.

The ICB place based clinical and care leadership team, is instrumental in enabling and driving clinical excellence and in exploring how we best support the delivery of high quality equitable, sustainable and resilient services for the future.

Whilst professionally accountable to the Medical Director, the post holder will under the direction of the Place Director, undertake a portfolio of responsibilities based on the clinical priorities of the ICB at place. They will provide professional (medical) expertise across a range of clinical areas and promote cross sector collaboration i.e., between civic (local government), community (VCSE) and service commissioners and providers, working within the integrated care system and as part of local system leadership teams.

Using their local health economy understanding, the post holder will use their relationships and significant engagement skills, to foster a collaborative, decisive and effective approach in the discharge of all responsibilities and be innovative, resilient and passionate about providing high quality health care with the ability to inspire and lead others to achieve results.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Medically qualified and registered with the GMC.

Desirable

  • Post Graduate Professional Membership.
  • Clinically practicing in the NENC ICS.
  • Management qualification or MBA
  • Qualification in improvement methodology
