Job summary

We are offering a position of Management Accountant in the Financial Management Team. As part of your role, you will be preparing management accountants, forecasting monthly positions, holding budget meetings and various other tasks.

Main duties of the job

You will join a supportive team and received full training on all aspects of the role. Tasks include maintaining working papers, managing budgets, dealing with a range of enquiries from staff and external customers, so strong communication skills are essential. Our work is audited, and it is therefore vital that accurate records are maintained. At interview you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and possess excellent organisational skills. You will be a team player with initiative, able to manage your own workload and meet service demands. Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications are required.

It has a wide range of functions including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving people's health and wellbeing, and reducing health inequalities. With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across health and care we look after 3.1 million people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community-based area providers. Qualifications

Essential

  • Postgraduate Diploma Professional Accountancy Qualification or equivalent experience.
  • NVQ Level 5/AAT Qualified / Part Qualified accountant or equivalent experience.

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and diplomacy skills, with an understanding of confidentiality and risk identification.
  • Ability to foster good working relationships and work effectively as part of numerous teams.
  • Ability to demonstrate persuasive, motivational and negotiation skills.
  • Discuss financial queries with budget holders, suppliers, practice staff, federations and PCNs, which are often complex, including reasons for delays in payment and other sensitive issues; discusses financial issues with customers, which may be contentious; provide advice on complex financial and corporate issues to non-financial managers; negotiates with NHS, external organisations over cost, service issues.
