We are offering a position of Management Accountant in the Financial Management Team. As part of your role, you will be preparing management accountants, forecasting monthly positions, holding budget meetings and various other tasks.

Main duties of the job

You will join a supportive team and received full training on all aspects of the role. Tasks include maintaining working papers, managing budgets, dealing with a range of enquiries from staff and external customers, so strong communication skills are essential. Our work is audited, and it is therefore vital that accurate records are maintained.

At interview you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn and possess excellent organisational skills. You will be a team player with initiative, able to manage your own workload and meet service demands. Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications are required.

The ICB has a large geographical area, base location to be discussed with successful candidate. Hybrid working is offered with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Provide financial management support to the Head of Finance, supporting the development of detailed financial plans, budgets and forecasting information for all budgets delegated to ICB delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

Provide financial management support to the Head of Finance.

Contribute to the development and monitoring of detailed budgets.

Contribute to the management and maintenance of effective budgetary control systems.

Analyse complex financial information, identifying and investigating any errors or discrepancies and provide and implement resolution where appropriate.

Discussing and advising NECS financial team on complex financial queries, providing advice on finance and corporate issues to non-financial Managers.

Monthly budget meetings with NECS financial team and provider management to discuss, advise, spending plans performance and financial implications.

Ensure financial plans are accurate and feasible and guide management action where necessary to support delivery of financial balance and achievement of QIPP.

Ensure that claims are processed in a timely manner meeting the submission deadlines for payments.

Produce forecast information which can be used for planning and ensuring organisational targets are met.

Provide financial support as appropriate to work steams and directors within the organisation.

Assist the Head of Finance with regular finance duties by supervising the completion of ready to pay files, manual payments, raising charge notes and supplier set-up.

Operate within the Standard Financial Instructions and the delegated budget authority for the role.

Foster a culture where analysis of demand and activity is regarded as supportive with a view to understanding the need to achieve optimum healthcare within available resources.

Provide information to the Head of Finance relating to monitoring and understanding of activity variation.

Respond to complex finance queries with staff, suppliers and customers including responding to performance issues and feedback.

Propose changes to accounting and financial policies and procedures which can impact on other areas.

Create and develop complex financial and demand management spreadsheets and reports.

Supports work on the Better Care Fund financial planning and reporting.

Works with budget managers across the local delivery unit and the wider ICB where appropriate.

Co-ordinates work of more junior staff/delivers finance and budget management training.

Provide technical support to colleagues including development of spreadsheets and analysis of complex data.

Provide any other relevant support to the Head of Finance.
