Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Involvement and Engagement Officer to join the Governance and Involvement Team, working in a friendly and supportive environment. We are looking for a self-motivated, confident individual who can work flexibly, independently, and prioritise tasks. Someone who is able to communicate effectively with a range of people and stakeholders, and who is passionate about ensuring the voice of patients and communities is represented in the work that we do.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have experience of engaging with a range of stakeholders, experience of different research methods, and a commitment to reaching and listening to the local community. This role will be based in Sunderland but will provide engagement and involvement support accross the North East and North Cumbria region. This will be a challenging and rewarding role in a supportive work environment.

Job responsibilities

Act as an Involvement and engagement specialist within the ICB, taking responsibility for interpreting good practice and guidance and advising on engagement and involvement as well as continually identifying new and creative approaches to communicate and engage with local people. Lead on, promote and provide advice in relation to the effective engagement of staff, public, patients, and carers in the planning, development, and decision-making processes of the ICB. Influence and provide direction to committees, senior managers and staff on appropriate involvement approaches including communicating highly complex or sensitive information. Analyse and interpret complex facts or situation that produce a range of options e.g., decides how to run campaigns or how to respond to requests. Organises complex campaigns, events, and visits. Ensure programmes of engagement are delivered within agreed budget.Lead a project team overseeing the work of non-direct reports to deliver a programme of engagement. Maintain strong relationships with communications and engagement colleagues in other local organisations, particularly the local authorities. Work collaboratively with colleagues in other NHS organisations and contribute to networking arrangements across the area and the region.

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience at a senior level in the NHS, social care, independent sector
  • Training and/or experience to Postgraduate diploma level
  • Project management experience and or qualification

Responsibilities for policy and service development implementation

Desirable

  • Evidence of experience and understanding of the current commissioning assurance framework

Responsibility for patient/client care
