Are you passionate about transforming cancer care and improving patient outcomes?The Northern Cancer Alliance is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Lung Cancer Screening Project Officer to support our Lung Cancer Screening Programme and Lung Cancer Strategy across the Northeast and North Cumbria. This is a unique opportunity to work with a collaborative team committed to improving early diagnosis of Lung Cancer, reducing health inequalities, reducing treatment variation and enhancing patient experience.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

o To undertake specific projects within the lung cancer screening programme, and lung cancer strategy, focused on improving early diagnosis, quality and service improvement.o Ensure that service development and work plans are aligned with the Alliance Cancer work plan.o Monitor project progress and ensure high-quality service delivery.o Champion patient and public involvement in projects, with a focus on reducing health inequalities.o Foster partnerships and cross-boundary working to achieve project objectives.

About us

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.

With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.

The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Word processing and Excel qualifications (intermediate level), or equivalent experience.
  • Word processing and Excel qualifications (advanced level), or equivalent experience
  • Further training / post graduate or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes

Experience

Essential

  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services.
  • Experience in communications and stakeholder management
  • NHS contracting, commissioning and performance management experience.
  • Experience of service change/redesign and success at delivering programmes of change
  • Experience in contract management, including performance management and quality assurance
  • Knowledge/ experience of standard NHS contracts, terms and conditions, schedules and contract levers
  • Previous experience in similar role in public sector
  • Knowledge of health and social care issues
  • A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it
