opportunity to offer people with contracting and transformation skills,
looking to make a difference for our local population.
We are developing our contracting
and delivery team, recruiting to the 3 roles at the same time. This will give the post-holders an
excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of changing and redesigning how
this function works within our organisation.
Based in Doncaster Place SYICB
this role, alongside a Band 6 and a Band 7 will work closely with the
Transformation and Delivery Team to support service transformation from a
contracting perspective.
Over time it is expected that the
two Teams will work hand in hand to jointly lead on service transformation and
support will be provided to all the team to collectively move towards this
way of working.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the delivery of specific work streams and programmes; the below are examples of the current workstreams that include, but are not limited to:
- Leading contract negotiation and performance management
- Preparing contract documentation, particularly for higher value contracts
- Where appropriate supporting portfolio areas of transformation within the Doncaster Place Team
- Supporting the planning and contracting round
- Facilitating identification of opportunities to use the contract as a lever to implement programmes to improve the health and wellbeing of the Doncaster population
- Providing advice and guidance to the wider organisational team on contract related matters
- Analysing information to provide reports related to contracting issues, working with finance colleagues as appropriate
- Keeping up to date on relevant contract legislation and national requirements
- Promoting and facilitate joint working with partners
- Supporting procurement processes as required
- Supporting compilation of long-term business plans associated with national Operational Planning Guidance
- Where appropriate supporting South Yorkshire wide workstreams, with contractual advice and guidance to support the business of the wider ICB

The post holder has a key role in the development and transformation of services, focusing primarily on delivering high-level expert support in all aspects of contracting at Place.
This will include providing expert support, advice and guidance on innovative contracting strategies ensuring that these strategies are fully aligned with the latest changes in contract legislation. The aim is to support transformation and delivery programs at Place effectively.
The role demands a proactive approach to ensure that all contracting activities are executed in accordance with strict deadlines.
The post holder will also work alongside the contracting and delivery team to:
- Be responsible for providing senior support to a wide portfolio of contracts both at place and system level, ensuring that these contracts are in line with current NHS guidance and legislation.
- Ensure that contract documents comprehensively incorporate requirements essential for supporting transformation, delivery, and integration. This responsibility includes a thorough understanding of significant issues and the identification of necessary actions within the framework of contract compliance. The aim is to guarantee that care is delivered at the highest possible quality, leveraging the available resources.
- Collaborate closely with the Transformation and Delivery team to actively involve clinical and professional leadership in defining contracting requirements.
- Investigate and advise on highly complex contractual issues and provide corporate reports and business planning advice in this area
- Work as a key member of transformation, delivery, and Improvement teams, primarily contributing contracting expertise to manage services effectively. While the core responsibility revolves around contracting, the role also involves collaborating with the wider team on additional functions within the commissioning cycle, albeit in a supportive capacity. This delineation ensures that contracting remains the central focus, with other duties complementing this primary role to enhancing deliver of improved services
- The role will be pivotal in supporting the delivery of strategic developments and projects from a contractual perspective, and act as a key collaborator for a number of services/providers across health and care.
