Job summary
An exciting new opportunity is now available at NHS South Yorkshire ICB here in Rotherham Place.
Working closely with the strategic Lead for MCA, DoLS / LPS and Court of Protection (CoP), the successful candidate will play a key operational role in ensuring that teams at Rotherham Place are working to best practice in relation to current legislation regarding DoLS and the CoP. You will be instrumental in achieving the smooth operational transition to LPS from DoLS when this takes effect.
Working primarily within the Continuing Health Care (CHC) team we are looking for a highly knowledgeable and experienced professional in relation to the use & application of the MCA / DoLS / Best Interests and applications to the CoP.
Highly visible, passionate, committed, determined, an agent of positive change and someone with a proven track record, you will have a good knowledge of the proposed changes to LPS, as well as a good understanding and experience of health care commissioning and the workings of CHC.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role for this post holder will encompass two main areas:
1 Act as an operational lead primarily within the CHC Team for DoLS (and LPS when this comes into effect), Best Interests and the Court of Protection

2 Act as an operational lead for the Mental Capacity Act within the CHC Team and for other Rotherham Place teams within the ICB

Ensuring that care packages offered by the CHC at Rotherham Place are designed to ensure that individuals are not subject to overly restrictive practices in their day to day lives.
Assessment and monitoring of the financial impact of activity and reporting any identified organisational risk and / or resource implications.
Responsibility for monitoring DoL and MCA activity and providing monthly performance reports to the strategic lead for MCA / DoLS / LPS / CoP at Rotherham Place.
Monitoring and reporting on performance matrices for internal and external audit and assurance purposes.

Ensure smooth application of DoLS operational processes (and subsequent LPS processes) and administration & oversight of these applications.
With CHC colleagues, carry out assessment of care and care packages to ensure that they are MCA / DoLS compliant.
Ensuring and providing assurance that the MCA is applied correctly within the CHC Team.
Ensuring that providers of care and the ICB commissioners maintain and keep up to date records of eligible individuals subject to DoLS (and LPS when this comes into effect), with relevant dates of authorisation, conditions, and renewal dates.
Ensuring that CHC staff plan care in accordance with authorised care packages and including compliance with any conditions.
Ensuring that CHC colleagues provide appropriate and timely information in the form required to the Court of Protection to enable decisions to be made in relation to DoL authorisations.
Gathering highly complex information (to a sufficiently high standard) and complete Court of Protection applications to enable authorisation of DoL.
