Job summary

Lancashire & South Cumbria Cancer Alliance on behalf of the ICB is tasked with delivering on the NHS wide priorities set out in the 24/25 Operational Planning Guidance which prioritises delivery of the recommendations within the LTP ambitions for cancer.

As a Project Manager you will deliver an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Lancashire & South Cumbria Cancer Alliance to improve outcomes for patients in line with the LTP cancer ambitions. The primary focus will be to support the development and delivery of the Targeted Lung Health Check programme.

The post holder will support the Senior Programme Manager and their team to ensure that their projects are planned and managed effectively and will take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery. This is an exciting and dynamic portfolio role, which requires excellent management and leadership skills to deliver a transformational programme of work for patients in the Lancashire & South Cumbria populations.

This requires a high calibre individual who can work autonomously in a stimulating and challenging environment to achieve outcomes efficiently.

The prospective candidate will be working collaboratively and in partnership with a wide stakeholder community including senior clinical and managerial leaders across the Cancer Alliance, ICB, senior commissioners, public health & screening teams, specialised services and primary care, and external support agencies.

As part of this programme, you will be working to develop and deliver a whole system approach to planning aiming to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities in line with national and local cancer priorities.

The Lancashire and South Integrated Care Board(ICB) was formally established as a new statutory body on 1 July 2022, replacing the eight clinical commissioning groups across Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Operational

  • To support team members and stakeholders to deliver requirements of the Cancer Alliances programme plan;
  • To support the delivery of day-to-day activities and projects
  • To drive delivery of a range of business initiatives and projects
  • To operate in a highly political and sensitive environment
  • Support the portfolio of initiatives in demonstrating value for money for the current spend
  • To monitor, interpret and quality assure progress against deliverables to NHS England that often require adjustments specifically in relation to the complex corporate business agenda, strategic objectives and the business planning process.
  • To support the development of business plans and provide expert analytical advice all all strategic policies.

  • Contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas
  • Manage project/projects as required by the Lancashire & South Cumbria Cancer Alliance plan agreed with regional and national cancer team
  • Provide coordination of and participate in relevant working groups and provide project advice, expertise and support where requested.
  • Provide relevant and timely specialist advice and guidance on own portfolio
  • Work with members of the Team to investigate the causes of any variance from plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions
  • Management of a risk and issues tracking mechanism and the resolution and escalation processes

Financial and Physical Resources

  • Provide regular reporting on the targeting of resources and monitoring their implementation from a value for money perspective
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of all aspects of team budgets or manage budgets as required
  • Ensure project expenditure is monitored accordingly
