Job summary
The Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance is an integral part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB). The cancer alliance's responsibilities as part of the ICB, are to work with the different providers in our system (primary care, secondary care, other health and social care organisations) to transform the diagnosis, treatment and care for cancer patients in the area.
Our key objectives involve ensuring that patients receive an early diagnosis of cancer (e.g. use of screening, innovations in primary care) and a faster diagnosis of cancer when it is suspected (e.g. streamlining pathways, community diagnostic centres, workforce innovations etc).
Our team deliver a sizeable cancer improvement programme across Lancashire and South Cumbria, which focusses on tumour specific pathways that are challenged i.e. not achieving constitutional cancer wait times standards or offering poor quality patient care.
This is a highly ambitious programme of work and we are looking for exceptional individuals keen to make a difference to patients within Lancashire & South Cumbria.
Our team generally work together once a week from ICB offices based at Lancashire County Hall, Preston; as part of this role you will be required to work from home as well as at a number of provider locations across Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Main duties of the job
The purpose of this role is to provide senior oversight and improvement in cancer performance. Working as part of Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance and in collaboration with partners across the system, the post holder will lead a range of improvement activities to support achievement of cancer waiting times standards.
You will play a key role in providing an expert service to our system providers; assisting them to identify and specify information needs and developing solutions to meet those needs; providing analysis and interpretation of highly complex information; advising them on appropriate use of information to improve outcomes for cancer patients.
Your role will be a 'hands-on' senior project manager, working directly with providers across the system to plan and deliver sustainable change for the better. The role involves leading transformational change, considering and introducing new innovations into existing cancer pathways, holding providers to account for the cancer services they provide and encouraging multi-provider system working/decisions to ensure patient care is improved wholescale.
You will work with programme leads from across the Cancer Alliance to performance monitor improvement activities to support the delivery of the cancer long-term plan priorities.
