Job summary
The Programme Manager will have a key role in the facilitation and
delivery of a community-based cancer health inequalities project across
Sandwell and its borders. The post holder will manage a team of four Community
Connectors who will sit within four identified health inequality communities,
and take a lead role in supporting and driving the project forwards to reach
the agreed outputs.
As the Programme Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day
operational coordination and oversight of the projects. Working with the
Community Connectors, they will lead on co-production, collaboration and
engagement with the communities to influence and support their access to cancer
services, working in collaboration with the community partners, wider
stakeholders including the public, people living with cancer, the voluntary
community sector and statutory sector, to reduce health inequalities.
The post is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and the post holder will be employed by Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB).
Main duties of the job
- The
post holder is required to work on their own initiative and manage their own
workload; this will require excellent project management and organisational
skills to be able to design a qualitative and quantitative performance
monitoring framework and method of collating performance information that can
be used to report the progress of the projects to stakeholders.
- The
post holder must be able to effectively communicate information to a wide range
of groups, including senior managers, medical staff, public and patient groups,
and external stakeholders. Ensuring personnel issues are dealt with a sensitive
and confidential manner.
- The
post holder must be able to lead the Community Connectors in the planning and
delivery of a range of events, for example focus groups, discussion workshops
and surveys, that will need to take place across Sandwell and its borders. Lead
on the implementation of the Community Connectors Project.
- Provide
day-to-day operational support to ensure the delivery of effective project
management and administrative support to facilitate the overall cohesiveness
and integrity of the Black Country Community Connectors Project that involves
four interconnected community organisations that are complementary to one
another.

day-to-day leadership, support, and management for four Cancer Connectors.
- Lead
the delivery of a communication plan to raise awareness of, promote and share
information about the work of the programme.
