Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Involvement Specialist within the Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) Involvement Team. The ICB manages the NHS budget for the area and arranges for the provision of health services locally. We are part of the Black Country Integrated Care System (ICS), known as Healthier Futures, working to bring health and social care services closer together for the good of our communities.

We are seeking to appoint an energetic, well organised, and imaginative individual who finds it easy to interact with people from all walks of life and is able to see things through the eyes of others. Someone who will empower and activate the gifts and strengths of people and communities to make sure they feel that their voice is heard. Enthusiasm for people powered, community-centred change is key and we welcome an understanding of our organisations duties in relation to patient and public involvement.

In return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and career within a supportive team who’ll be at the heart of embedding the voice of our communities in planning and decision making.

Main duties of the job

  • You like building relationships, helping to connect people with each other, and other organisations and projects, and are always thinking of ways to work together. You’ll take the lead on convening a community of practice in Wolverhampton to capture what really matters to people.
  • You have second-to-none administration, planning and communication skills that will help you bring together the right people, insights, skills and assets enabling you to manage a busy diary of involvement and assurance activities.
  • You are committed to learning and evaluating and willing to work iteratively, with a focus on what’s strong, rather than what’s wrong.
  • You want to get things done and make things happen with what you have.
  • You are a great communicator, making ideas, thoughts and stories and experiences easy to understand and excitable through different mediums such as conversations, drawings, music and more to help share intangible things and bring about positive change and improvement.
  • You are creative and always thinking of new effective and innovate ways to bring bold ideas into the everyday.

About us

On 1 July 2022, NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) was established. The ICB is part of the Black Country Integrated Care System which is a partnership of organisations that have come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services to improve the lives of people in our four boroughs: Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton and Sandwell.

ICB’s are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of integrated care systems (ICS):

  • to improve outcomes in population, health and healthcare;
  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access;
  • enhance productivity and value for money and;
  • help the NHS support broader social and economic development

The Black Country Integrated Care Board manages the NHS budget for the area and arranging the provision of the health services for the 1.26 million people who live in the Black Country.

The core values of the NHS drive what we do locally, and we rightly have a clear focus on reducing health inequalities and improving health outcomes for all, whilst ensuring a sustainable health service for the long-term.
