An exciting opportunity to work with an established and experienced team of analysts within the System Analytics and Intelligence Unit covering Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Supporting the team and developing new techniques to provide insight and intelligence relating to the Primary and Community Care datasets and supporting the Locality and Primary Care Networks in their programmes of work.

Main duties of the job

The Place analytics team is part of the System Analytics and Intelligence Unit (SAIU). The main aim of the SAIU is to place information and data at the heart of decision making within the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS).

This role will:

  • support the Principal Analyst and Place analytics team in collecting and processing data and producing information and intelligence to support the decision-making processes of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board and its key Place based stakeholders (example: ICPs, Locality Teams and Individual Primary Care Networks).
  • support the Principal Analyst in the development and regular servicing of System Intelligence Dashboards (SIDS) within agreed timescales, meeting internal and external requirements.
  • support the development of dataflows to enhance the knowledge and understanding of activity and resource use within Primary and Community Care sectors in the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS.

There will be an opportunity in the role for training in Microsoft PowerBI, more advanced SQL, and basic R. This will be supported by a development programme within the SAIU.

This role suits a candidate with strong skills in working with health and care data, especially community and primary care data, with good SQL skills and attention to detail, who wants to help develop and improve these data sets to help provide greater insight into local out-of-hospital care - an area with a growing focus.

Support to the development of Community and Primary Care Datasets

Working with other members of the team this will include:

  • Support the Principal Analyst with the development of a Community Health Care dataset to enable the SAIU to carry out more in-depth analysis in line with the Population Health Management programme.
  • Support the Principal Analyst in understanding how a Primary Care Dataset might be developed to enable the SAIU to carry out more in-depth analysis in line with the Population Health Management programme. This will include evaluation of current levels of data quality and coverage in key data fields.
  • Investigate any data quality anomalies which may occur in any of the dataflows, including coverage and coding differences.

Support to Place Based Stakeholders

Working with other members of the team, to provide analytical support and intelligence to Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB and the Place based stakeholders. This will include:

  • Maintenance and updates to System Intelligence Dashboards (SIDS) relevant to Place Based stakeholders these dashboards are likely to be within a PowerBI application.
  • Respond to ad hoc analytical requests allocated by the SAIU central request system.
  • Collaboration with other functions of the SAIU to ensure output is available at a locality level.
  • Support the ICB work stream groups and other stakeholder groups to analyse and understand information and provide added intelligence to data output.

General Information Management

This includes:

  • Collating information of various types & formats, which could be from different sources.
  • Analysing and interpreting complex data to produce detailed, concise reports, suitable for formal presentation to clinicians and managers within the ICB.
  • Interrogation of various health information data sources
  • Identify, investigate and understand possible anomalies in the information analysed, which may include:
    • Assessing whether analysis is robust.
    • Liaising with senior management so that the necessary action can be taken.
    • Providing advice & support to staff on the use of information and statistics made available to them and to communicate highly complex statistical/analytical information to non-statistical/analytical staff in a user-friendly manner.
    • Extracting data from the local data warehouse for analysis this could be using Structured Query Language (SQL) or other extraction techniques.
  • Contribute to the wider work around developing the local system data and knowledge infrastructure by improving data quality where possible, identifying data gaps, ensuring that any new data sets are standardised and aligned with wider local requirements, that any new data flows are into a centralised data warehouse environment, and accessible to all relevant analysts, and ensuring that any code sets, definitions or coding scripts produced by the analyst are available for reuse and replication by other members of the SAIU and, where appropriate, the wider system.

  • Set relevant personal development objectives with line manager and review these on a frequent basis to ensure continued professional development and contribution to the growing skillset within the team
  • Proactively identify development needs and seek out relevant training and skills development opportunities
