Job summary

At Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board, we are looking for a safeguarding professional to work collaboratively in the Safeguarding Team to ensure clinical practice relating to safeguarding is consistent with national and local policy as well as providing or supporting learning and development of HWICB staff, Primary Care Staff, GP staff and local Safeguarding Boards/Safeguarding Partnerships.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Designate Nurse for Safeguarding (All Ages Integrated), the Named Professional for Safeguarding (all ages integrated) will support all activities necessary to ensure that Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICB (HWICB) meet its responsibilities to safeguard/protect its population.

The Named Professional for Safeguarding will take an active part in Serious Case Reviews (SCR), Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SAR) and Domestic Homicide Review processes, serious untoward incidents or other high-risk incidents where there are safeguarding concerns. Including completing reviews of primary care/Continuing Health Care (CHC) involvement, supporting dissemination of any findings and implementation of any recommendations relating to primary care/CHC.

To work closely with the Deputy Designated Nurse for Safeguarding /Designated Nurse and Doctor, Deputy Designated Nurses; Lead professionals for Safeguarding Adults and NHSE (Midlands and West) Lead for Safeguarding to ensure the statutory duties for safeguarding are implemented in General Practice, NHS Provider Organisations and other services commissioned by the HWICB.

The Named Professional works as a key member of the ICB Safeguarding and Quality Teams.

Liaise with professional leads from other agencies, such as Police, Education and Social Care in order to fulfil statutory safeguarding duties and support NHS Provider Organisations (including General Practices) to fulfil their responsibilities.

Work in partnershipwith the ICBs and NHSE to provide advice and support to GPs and their staff in relation to safeguarding.

Essential

  • oExperience of managing safeguarding issues and an understanding of primary care contribution to safeguarding processes, such as Section 42 enquiries, Section 47 enquiries and initial and review case conferences (ICPC/RCPC)
  • oExperience of working collaboratively with other health and social care providers, and ability to promote strong working partnerships.
  • oClinical experience of working with adults, children and their families within the safeguarding arena

Qualifications
