Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for an ambitious candidate to join the senior finance leadership team of NHS Herefordshire & Worcestershire ICB for a one-year fixed term contract/secondment to cover Maternity Leave.

Whilst the right candidate will have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of the ICB's financial portfolio experience in Primary Care (GP, Dental Optometry and Pharmacy) and/or Continuing Healthcare would be ideal as these are the key areas of focus for this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work extremely closely with both the Chief Finance Officer and Deputy Chief Finance Officer in supporting delivery against all operational objectives, maintaining a balanced perspective throughout to enable the effective management of potentially competing corporate service needs and demands.

Responsible for the overall management, performance, and associated development of part of the finance function, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and a high standard of integrity in relation to financial systems and associated processes. In addition, the post holder will be required to advise on a range of highly complex financial issues and lead on specific areas of corporate reporting and strategic financial planning as required.

  • Lead on in-year budget management and control of budgets within a timetabled environment, allowing the timely production of budget reports and forecast information with clear and transparent explanations of relevant factors influencing performance.
  • Produce information on key variances, trends and forecasts and draft the financial management content of finance reports to the Board for review by the Deputy and Chief Finance Officer
  • Contribute to the efficient production of statutory accounts and annual report with good quality working papers receiving unqualified audit opinion.
