Job summary

We are looking for a highly self- motivated, self-driven individual with a recognised Infection Prevention and Control qualification to join our established Infection Prevention and Control Team within Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board. We are seeking a registered (Nurse /AHP) with a professional approach, possessing excellent leadership and communication skills to work across the boundaries of health and social care to achieve excellence in infection control and quality for our population. The post offers an opportunity to work flexibly using a hybrid model of working at home/office and field working.

Main duties of the job

  • Working with Local Public Health, UKHSA, health and social care colleagues act as an expert advisor on infection prevention and control in a range of community settings, completing IPC reviews where significant concerns are identified
  • Communicate sensitive information about IPC quality concerns and/or confidential patient information related to IPC, which may be unwelcome, to care providers and work with those providers to ensure that appropriate actions are agreed and implemented.
  • Work with contracting and quality leads to develop appropriate key performance indicators for a range of health and care providers, to enable the quality assurance of IPC practice in identified services
  • Develop and implement a range of audits to ensure best practice and assist junior members of the team to undertake audits
  • Monitor and report any infections and outbreaks and liaise with the relevant organisations (ICB, LA and local Public Health and UKHSA) to ensure information is kept current and up-to-date and provide any relevant additional quality and supporting information as appropriate
  • Assist in the gathering of data concerning any outbreaks of infection in care and local authority run services.

About us

The post holders will work in close collaboration with ICB colleagues, Local Authority, care providers, Primary Care and UKHSA to improve aspects of infection prevention and control practice, and act as a source of expert advice and guidance to these services, facilitating and participating in any training as required.The successful candidates will be supported by the IPC Operational and Strategic lead nurses to develop their infection prevention knowledge and skills to support the system.

  • Significant experience at Band 6 with clinical leadership experience
  • Experience of managing change
  • Proven Clinical Audit experience.
  • Experience in policy development.
  • Teaching experience

  • Working knowledge of Infection Control managing complex issues and situations.
  • Understanding of national targets associated with HCAI, key ambitions and campaigns to reduce HCAI
