Job summary

We are looking for an energetic and experienced pharmacist to join our Medicines Optimisation leadership team in the South Eastern Hampshire locality of the Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Working across a patient population of 424,000 people, consisting of nine Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and 36 GP practices, we have an annual primary care prescribing spend of approx. £75m.

Main duties of the job

This position is a key part of the leadership team that oversees the local prescribing agenda and will manage our team of pharmacists to ensure appropriate use of medication, including reductions in antibiotic use, and supporting admission avoidance due to medication related issues.

Excellent relationship building skills are vital for this role. Strong local links with PCNs and practice based staff are vital in achieving our outcomes and the role relies on establishing good local networks with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Head of Medicines Optimisation and work with the existing team to provide a programme of expert pharmaceutical support, medicines optimisation advice and leadership to the PCNs, GPs, Medicines Optimisation team and other members of the health care team.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity you will have extensive knowledge and experience of prescribing within primary care and be able to provide accurate and timely clinical advice in order to support cost effective, evidence based prescribing.

The post holder will be required to travel between GP surgeries and must hold a full driver's license with access to their own transport. Candidates applying for this post must have a degree in Pharmacy, a suitable post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy and be registered with General Pharmaceutical Council.
