Job summary

NHS Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) is seeking to recruit a practising clinician to support the development and delivery of the Learning Disability and Autism (LD&A) Programme. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and advice to the LDA Delivery Partnership Board and associated workstreams, focused on improving health and social outcomes for neurodivergent people (including those with learning disability and/or autism).

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Lead will -

Work alongside colleagues from the LDA Delivery Partnership to drive service change and transformation for neurodivergent people through effective clinical leadership and engagement across Kent & Medway. This may include developing approaches which are non-traditional in nature, ambitious and wide reaching in areas which incorporate the wider determinants that have an impact on improving clinical outcomes, better life outcomes and reducing health inequalities for this population.

Provide clinical leadership, insight, and challenge to how system partners address clinical system resilience, sustainability and positive outcomes, development improvement, and quality and safety of patient care.

Provide clinical advice and leadership to support strategic commissioning and transformation programmes emphasising clinical engagement; improving clinical resilience; removing unwarranted variation and health inequalities and promoting improvement in outcomes.

Lead appropriate clinical interactions with internal and external stakeholders, including GP member practices and primary care networks, fostering a culture of collaboration for the delivery of equitable, high-quality care. At times this will include acting as an honest broker reconciling conflicting views and interests.

Role Summary

Clinical Leads provide expertise and leadership within several priority health improvement programme areas; working with experts by experience, colleagues in the ICB, Health and Care Partnerships (HCPs) and provider organisations to develop and implement local and system wide clinical solutions that transform care. work closely with the ICB programme team, and professional, clinical and managerial colleagues across the system to lead and assure change across the system, in line with the agreed objectives.

focus on the quality of primary and secondary health and care services for neurodivergent people within the ICS including sharing intelligence and working with other key partners and regulators across and outside the system to improve quality of care and outcomes.

promote multi-professional clinical and care leadership in delivery of the LDA Delivery Partnership objectives and form part of the wider network of clinical and care leaders in the region and nationally.

as a clinical system leader, acting as a catalyst and advocate, be responsible for ensuring that there is a collective responsibility for high standards of clinical care across the ICS.

Key Relationships

Maintain good links to NHSE Southeast Region team and other ICBs to share good practice and horizon scan. Act as a conduit between the national, regional and local teams.
