We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated
Nurse with initiative and drive, who can work as part of a team and a system to work
within our Child Death Service.
Together with the Deputy Designated Nurse for Child Death,
you will be will be responsible for
advising on the implementation, coordination and management of the response to
all child deaths of children who live in Kent and Medway; to have a coordinated
approach for children who die in Kent and Medway who live in another County.
In addition, to be a a member of the JAR Nursing team to follow up, risk
assess, action plan and support grieving parents and their families.

Main duties of the job
The Post Holder, in
collaboration with the Deputy Designated Nurse for Child Death in Kent and
Medway, will be responsible for advising on the implementation, coordination
and management of the response to all child deaths of children who live in Kent
and Medway.
To liaise with other counties when
children die in Kent and Medway and live out of area.
Work closely with the Designated Child Death Doctors to implement the
JAR for all child deaths in Kent and Medway and to support and coordinate
process (protocols, pathways and monitoring systems).
Ensure that the deaths of all
children normally resident in Kent and Medway who die in a community setting
are reviewed and a Joint Agency Response (JAR) is triggered where appropriate
and being part of the JAR nursing rota.
To support the Electronic Child Death
Overview Process (ECDOP).
Arrange and attend internal and external child death meetings as
requested, this includes strategy discussions, multi-agency meetings, Child
Death Review Meetings (CDRM), Child Death Overview Panel meetings and any other
appropriate meeting.

statutory duties as detailed in Child Death Review Statutory and Operational
Guidance: England (HM 2018). The role will be crucial in supporting the
continual improvement and development of the child death review service. Duties will include:

promoting quality standards of practice.

work in partnership with other professionals to support the work of the Child
