Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 8b Head of Contracts working across the Kent and Medway ICB in the friendly environment of the contracting team which sits within the Finance Directorate. The role will play a crucial part in the ongoing contract and relationship management with our healthcare providers in Kent and Medway.

The post-holder will be responsible for an assigned portfolio aligned to 1 of 4 HCPs or across the Kent and Medway geography and one additional specialist portfolio.

The postholder will take a leading role for contracts for healthcare services within their area of responsibility as well as contributing and supporting other areas of the team when necessary.

The role is critical is supporting the development of the contracting and finance roadmap across HCPs and the postholder will need demonstrate strong contract management skills along with a political awareness.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a good understanding of the NHS healthcare landscape and have relevant experience and knowledge of NHS contracts as well as a proven track record of relationship management and negotiation.

The role requires a very high standard of literacy and additionally the post holder needs to be outwardly confident in their manner when dealing with staff at all levels in the Kent and Medway ICB, our healthcare providers and our suppliers of goods and services.

Maid duties will be:

Providing professional expertise to the outcome of the business processes for the Department or Directorate.

Providing contract leadership ensuring adherence to governance, escalation and reporting to ICB committees including those within the relevant HCP.

  • Experience of managing people
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy in South East and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations
