The role

Job title Associate Director - Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC)

Band 8D

Hours Full time/Permanent

The post holder will manage the Head of UEC Delivery and Improvement who will be responsible for the Operational Delivery Plan, Winter Plan and ensuring the alignment of all UEC delivery and redesign.

Main duties of the job

Support the Portfolio Director to lead the development and implementation of the UEC portfolio strategy and programme to reflect ICP Strategy, Joint Forward Plan and national priorities.

Develop and maintain key strategic relationships with those external organisations that are critical to the successful delivery of the portfolio, including NHSE and ICS colleagues.

Represent the UEC portfolio in the wider systemEstablish effective UEC Portfolio governance and reporting systems which fully align to the system governance and processes.

Manage system risks within the portfolio, ensuring they are appropriately identified and controls and/or mitigation is in place, escalating as appropriate.

About us

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.

Location Home based/hybrid working (most of posts).

Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice

New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations

Posts at Band 8c and above, will take part in the On-call rota, flexible over 7 days, supporting the System Control Centre, with full training provided.

  • Senior experience in a senior Urgent Care role
  • Experience in managing system-wide services that impact on large populations
  • Significant experience of successful performance and activity risk management and improvement.
  • Extensive change management experience in a complex environment.
  • Experience of delivering large scale transformation through contracts and collaborative working.
  • Extensive experience of deploying performance management frameworks

Skills and knoweldge

Essential

  • Five years senior management experience in the NHS, Local Authority, or other relevant service sector.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Experience of managing delivery of organisational strategies
  • Proven track record of leadership experience and team working.
