Job summary
The Assistant Management Accountant - (Note this is the generic job description for two roles, these will cover Acute & Community and Mental Health & CHC) is a key role in supporting the finance function of the ICB. The role will deputise for the Senior Management Accountant as required.
This includes responsibility for ensuring all processes and procedures are in place to provide the ICB with relevant, accurate and timely management information concerning financial and activity performance to support with financial viability and achievement of targets.
Provide day to day support to monitor invoices and purchase orders within the ledger system ensuring they are dealt with in a timely manner
Support to deliver financial information as part of the month end reporting to assist the ICB to successfully manage their financial position in accordance with an agreed timetable
Main duties of the job
Support the Senior Management Accountant, including preparation and production of regular monitoring reports
Support the Programme Finance Team in providing budget holders and ICB staff with financial training requirements
Responsible for the production of accountable areas of the ICB monthly reporting, producing working papers including accruals, prepayments and recharges to agree the year-to-date position and a forecast outturn for presentation and discussion with ICB colleagues
Prepare month end journals and post into the general ledger
Support the department at month end, ensuring that the purchase order and non-purchase order invoices contained within the relevant reports are all accurately recorded into the ledger in a timely manner
Provide basic financial advice to budget managers in accordance with Standing Financial Instructions, Standing Orders and Scheme of Delegates
Provide information as requested by senior finance staff for the preparation of management reports e.g. extraction of data from the General Ledger for further analysis
Review and identify improvements to financial systems for senior finance staff approval
Maintain, review and update Finance Department procedure notes in respect of the post holder's area of work
Provide information, as directed by senior finance staff, to external agencies including external auditors
To support the team with the collation of information for FOIs
