This position is for HELMSLEY PHARMACY @ Helmsley Medical Centre (Ryechem Ltd t/a Helmsley Pharmacy)

We are delighted to offer an exciting Superintendent Pharmacist Position within our Pharmacy attached to the local Medical Centre. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic Superintendent Pharmacist to join our team. You will be able to use your own intuition, expertise and experience to deliver pharmacy services for our customers and patients. You will not only deal with normal day to day running of the pharmacy but also manage staffing, training, governance and other aspects of the pharmacy business. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person, who is passionate about healthcare.

The Pharmacy also benefits from 6 trained dispensers including an ACT and a pharmacy supervisor, plus a team of volunteer delivery drivers.

The Medical Centre also employs Clinical Pharmacists (CP) via the Primary Care Network, the CP and SIP work closely to maintain and improve patient services.

This post is ideal for an independent minded, financially and clinically focused pharmacist who wants to develop their career by taking on a superintendent role.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure the safe, efficient & effective delivery of all aspects of pharmacy services in the company in accordance with GPhC, national and local standards
  • Account for professional pharmacy legal & ethical decisions in the pharmacy actively supporting the development, education & training of the team
  • Accountable for ordering and managing of all medicines
  • Advising the board on an appropriate workforce plan providing sufficient pharmacy staff who are trained and competent for their role
  • Ensuring the optimisation and development of the overall profitability of the business
  • Report progress against KPIs to the Directors.
  • Ensuring adequate and up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures are in place as required by GPhC
  • To ensure procedures are in place for the safe disposal of returned medicines and expired pharmacy stock medications
  • Ensure the premises are maintained to a high professional standard at all times
  • plan, develop and support the introduction of new or revised working processes to optimise the quality of work and the profitability of the business
  • Contribute to the safe and accurate issue of completed dispensed prescriptions to patients.
  • Accurately dispense clinically checked prescriptions against the relevant prescription documentation

About us

Helmsley is located on the western edge of the North York Moors National Park (Yorkshire Vet country). We are only 25 miles from the north-east coast and the popular tourist areas at Whitby, Staithes, Scarborough and Filey. We are fortunate to be based in such a beautiful area and still have easy access to the major motorway and rail networks. The area provides excellent opportunities for country sports and past times, with some outstanding natural scenery.
