Job summary

Make a Real Difference as a Band 5 Night Nurse or Paramedic in East Kent!

We're seeking a passionate and skilled Band 5 Night Nurse/Paramedic to join our Urgent Care Service in East Kent primarily based in Ashford.

The East Kent Night Nursing Service provides care for patients overnight with an urgent clinical need such as end of life symptom management, verification of expected death and urinary catheter issues. Referrals are received from NHS 111, SECAMB, Out of Hours GP and directly from patients and relatives via our Local Referral Unit.

After a period of induction and consolidation you will rotate as the shift co-ordinator. This role includes triaging the calls and offering telephone advice or allocation for a clinician to visit.

It is essential that you are comfortable with lone working and possess the relevant skills and knowledge to work independently with minimal supervision.

A full valid UK driving license and access to a car is essential but don't worry - you can claim mileage costs and access the NHS car lease provision after your probationary period.

Main duties of the job

What Your Role Will Involve:

  • Providing holistic care: you'll assess, plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive patient cantered care ensuring all aspects of their well-being are considered.
  • Partnership in Care Planning: you'll work with patients to develop integrated care plans that empower them to take an active role in their health journey
  • Mentorship and Development: You'll play a vital role in supervising and supporting the development of junior staff, including Health Care Assistants and Students, fostering a learning environment.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Actively contributing as a member of our multi-professional team, you'll work together to provide high-quality, coordinated care for our patients
  • Clinical Expertise: You'll perform a range of clinical interventions, expertly identifying any deterioration in a patient's condition and taking appropriate action to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Caseload Management: You'll manage a diverse caseload of patients daily, often including individuals with complex needs within a specific specialty.
  • Duty and Triage Support: You'll also contribute to our duty role and complete triages, ensuring efficient and responsive care delivery
  • Resource Management: You'll efficiently order necessary equipment and make timely onward referrals to ensure seamless patient support
