We're looking for registered nurses and/or Midwives who are interested inbecoming a student specialist community public health nurse's (SCPHN) School Nursing with a view to startinga 12 month training programme in January 2026.We provide an excellent learning environment supported by practice supervisors and assessors who willsupport you to become fully qualified through the University of Greenwich; all while being employed as a vitalpart of our friendly and professional team helping children to have the best possible start in life.You will be paid throughout your training and on successful completion you'll become a fully qualified band 6SCPHN with a specialism in School Nursing with lots of opportunities for career progression.We work in partnership with a wide variety of agencies including but not limited to local schools, family hubsand GPs on a challenging and rewarding caseload, and we strongly encourage creativity and new ideas.This is a community-based role with your duties being carried out between your home, community setting,school or trust site.We work across the whole of East Sussex (except for Brighton & Hove) and have 1 training post available.
Main duties of the job
Your daily activities will be varied to include:
- promoting public health initiatives. to support Healthy lifestyles for Children and Young people and their families.
- delivering packages of care e.g. healthy weight, toileting, behaviour/ parenting, emotional health and well-being.
- undertaking health needs assessment
- providing Support in the daily management of Young people's texting service
- managing a caseload of Children and Young People
- focusing on high impact areas set out in the healthy child programme
- safeguarding of children and families
- leading on QI projects
