Job summary
The Kent School Health service works with schools, parents and carers as well as other professionals like health visitors or community paediatricians to prevent ill health in children, families and the wider community, support safeguarding of children and young people and address any health needs to make sure every child reaches their potential.
Our teams work hard to improve the public health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families to support children to get the best start in life. The teams are led by school nurses who are qualified nurses, with specialist training in public health. They are supported by school staff nurses, assistant practitioners, public health assistants and an administration team.
Main duties of the job
Public Health Assistants support the key delivery of childhood public health programmes as directed by our key services delivering the Healthy Child Programme.
These activities may include:
- National and local screening programmes (such as Vision and Hearing)
- Delivery of school based children's vaccination programmes (intranasal)
- Delivery of the National Child Measurement Programme
