Job summary

Join us at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) in our Respiratory Service, train to become a qualified Registered Nurse and gain a degree in nursing whilst you work. The programme will help you to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies of a Registered Nurse (RN).

While you work as a Nursing Associate, you will be able to further expand the depth and breadth of your knowledge and skills before moving into your new role as a registered nurse on successful completion of the programme.

Applicants must be at least 1-year post Nursing Associate qualification and be interested in 'topping up' to become a Registered Nurse in 2 years. You should also have at least one year's experience of working within a specialist respiratory team.

If you apply for more than one of the RNDA vacancies, you will only be invited to interview once but you will be considered for every vacancy where you were successfully shortlisted.

The successful candidate for this position will also need to complete an application and interview with the apprenticeship provider. Once you have been successful at both elements, you will be offered the apprenticeship position.

Main duties of the job

You will train alongside a skilled team of professionals who include specialist respiratory practitioners, respiratory nurses, associate practitioners and administrative staff.

We also have close links with the pulmonary rehabilitation team who consist of specialist physiotherapists, respiratory assistants and counsellors.

As a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice in the Respiratory Service, you will provide care to with a range of respiratory conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis and asthma. Whilst patients are seen predominantly in the clinic setting there is the ability to see patients at home where clinically indicated.

We provide an assessment and review service for all adult respiratory patients who require long term oxygen therapy or ambulatory oxygen. The specialist respiratory team work closely across the boundaries between primary and secondary care whilst ensuring a seamless service for our patients who are on a respiratory pathway of care.
