A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join the Inpatient Therapy Team at Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital.
Friends Ward is a well established Inpatient Rehabilitation Ward providing care and Therapy for thelocal community. The ward mainly caters for the older population but also caters for much youngerpatients with long term conditions or following significant trauma.
You will benefit from working with a well-established multidisciplinary team including SpeechTherapists, Pharmacists, Dieticians, Doctors, Consultants, Nurses and of course the OccupationalTherapy and Physiotherapy staff. You will gain further experience of working in an Inpatient settingworking with patients who have multiple comorbidities. Main duties of the job
You will join our forward thinking Therapy Team providing a high quality rehabilitation service,working closely with the multidisciplinary team. You will support the assessment of patient'sphysical, social and psychological needs within the hospital setting and in discussion with the patient,carer's, family and multidisciplinary team formulate and implement treatment programmes anddischarge planning. You will be expected to support Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists andBand 4 Therapy Assistants and support in the training of others as appropriate.
For this role you are required to have:o A relevant NVQ 2/care certificate. Staff currently studying towards this will be considered.o At least 1 years experience as a Therapy Assistant, Rehabilitation Assistant or HCA, includingelderly care, community work and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.o Knowledge of a range of physical conditions relating to older people, including rehabilitation, fallsand orthopaedics.o Ability to support assessment.o Good communication skills.o Be pro-active.o Be passionate about empowering patients, their carer's and their Family.o Be Flexible and adaptable.o Experience of working in the NHS System.
