Main duties of the job
We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice role within the Community Nursing: The West (Hythe) team. You will train alongside a skilled team of professionals who include nurses, community matrons, specialist nurses, health care assistants and therapy assistants.
As a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice in Community Nursing: The West (Hythe) team you will provide care to patients in their own homes, including residential homes, where appropriate. Community nurses work hard to treat patients at home so they do not have to go into hospital unnecessarily.
Nurses look after people who are housebound and who have nursing needs. They carry out a range of nursing assessments and procedures, for example, medicine administration, taking blood, dressing changes, and contributing to integrated care.
Registered Nurses are members of the health care team, who have gained a nursing degree, typically involving four years of higher education. This job description reflects the seven platforms of the Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses (2018)
- Being an accountable professional
- Promoting health and preventing ill health
- Assessing needs and planning care
- Providing and evaluating care
- Leading and managing nursing care and working in teams
- Improving safety and quality of care
- Coordinating care
