Job summary

Kent Community Health NHS Trust is looking for suitably qualified and enthusiastic Counsellors.

Fixed term roles available: Fixed term to run until end of August 2023.

You'll need to be qualified to minimum of level 4 diploma in counselling or psychotherapy and be accredited with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) or equivalent body, or be able to evidence that you are working towards accreditation.

You will have knowledge and understanding of the mental health needs of children, young people and adults, being competent in the practical use of a range of therapeutic interventions with children, young people and adults.

You will be able to use assessment skills, including risk assessing, will have the ability to work as a team member, to maintain confidentiality, be I.T. literate and should be able to work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines and agencies.

The role includes driving to clinics across Kent and involves using a comprehensive electronic patient record system.

You will be able to use your initiative, have good communication skills and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Interview dates will be confirmed on successful application and will be by virtual medium using Microsoft Teams.

Main duties of the job

Main duties will involve providing targeted, short term counselling to school age children and young people in clinic settings across Kent, to include risk assessing and onward referral for safeguarding, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) or to other services as required.

You will be able to use assessment skills, including risk assessing, will have the ability to work as a team member, to maintain confidentiality, be I.T. literate and should be able to work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines and agencies.

Attendance at supervision and team meetings.

Completion of mandatory training.

Using a comprehensive electronic patient record system.

You will be able to use your initiative, have good communication skills and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
