Job summary

We are looking for a Foot Care Assistant to join our friendly team. The role will also have non-patient facing activities, such as, providing support in the areas of National Diabetic Foot Audit, Route cause analysis, triage and allocation.

You'll be supported to complete the Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship level 4 to develop into the role of an Associate Practitioners, should you wish to.

You'll be expected manage your own clinics for nail cutting and general footcare advice and also provide this service in the patient's home. The role will also encompass assisting the Podiatrist undertaking nail surgery.

You will be enthusiastic, have excellent organisational skills and be forward thinking, able to follow treatment plans and refer back to a Podiatrist as appropriate.

You must be able to communicate effectively to ensure that the patient receives the best care possible.

Main duties of the job

You'll be confident to work single handed, or as part of a team, liaising with appropriate members of the Podiatry team in relation to service delivery and patient care, using standard operating procedures and good practice guidelines and understand treatment outcomes.

You'll be expected to provide nail care sessions from various local community clinics within the area and be responsible for the preparation of the clinical room, ensuring that there is adequate stock to carry out the session. You'll be responsible for ensuring that the clinic sessions run effectively and efficiently maximising the use of clinic time.

Foot health education and carrying out both non-pathological and pathological nail treatments is an essential part of the role.
