Job summary

This is an exciting new opportunity for a motivated and patient centred advanced pharmacist to join our expanding pharmacy department as an Advanced Pharmacist in Medicines Information and Education. The KCHFT Pharmacy Team provides medicines optimisation services to community hospitals, community nursing teams, specialist children's teams, HIV and sexual health services.

Are you an experienced pharmacist seeking a new challenge, wanting to make a positive difference to patient care and education of the pharmacy workforce?

If you are interested in working clinically as well as being influential in the teaching and inspiration of pharmacy undergraduates then this could be the post for you. You will work two days a week at the University, contributing to the development and delivery of the degree content, and also arrange and support undergraduate placements in our department.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the growth and development of Medicines Information and Education (MIE) team which provides services to patients and a variety of healthcare professionals within a community health setting and work as a Teacher Practitioner on the Master of Pharmacy programme at the Medway School of Pharmacy.

This role requires excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, alongside sound clinical knowledge and relevant experience.

The post holder will need to travel to meetings/sites primarily across Kent and Medway.

The post holder must be an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will manage, develop and grow the existing MIE pharmacy team.

  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Can demonstrate consistent performance in the majority of domains in the RPS Foundation Pharmacy Framework
  • 5 years post registration (minimum).
  • Awarded or working towards a postgraduate certificate or similar

Desirable

  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential

  • 5 years post registration (minimum)
  • Experience and knowledge of hospital practice including dispensing and clinical experience with a suitable specialty
  • Experience in education and training of healthcare professionals, social care staff and patient groups
  • Audit and project management experience
  • Commitment to mandatory continual professional development (CPD)

Desirable

  • Experience in both hospital pharmacy and other sectors e.g. Community Health, Community Pharmacy
  • Critical appraisal skills
