Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a person with a high degree of organisational ability and self -motivation who would enjoy the challenge of being part of a busy, award winning team that will deliver community based cardiology services across the Wirral. This new post will provide management and leadership to the clinical support team.

The management of cardiovascular disease is a priority for the Community Trust and this post will contribute towards supporting the clinical and admin team in developing a community cardiology service for the evolving needs of the Wirral population.

The post-holder will have responsibility for organising and co-ordinating the Clinical technicians within the Community Cardiology Service and be responsible for their professional development, management supervision, managing attendance, performance management, recruitment and competencies using the Trust appraisal process and policy, authorising annual leave and Sickness monitoring. As well as the general organising of rota's and co-ordinating clinics

Main duties of the job

The post will require performing ECGs, fitting various diagnostic devices, taking basic measurements such as height, weight and blood pressure. As well as co-ordinating clinic duties, organising clinics, staff annual leave and organising rota's. Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a team and to direction is essential. Using initiative and having excellent organisation skills is key. Leadership and team work is a major feature of this role and the ability to work and communicate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team. The post will involve covering colleagues work during periods of absence and may include some evening work. Training will be provided as required.

  • Responsibility for liaising with internal and external services and agencies to resolve problems, queries or complaints, which may be from distressed patients/relatives
  • To work in partnership with others to deliver successful outcomes in the service
  • Develop and maintain excellent communications and working relationships with the Administration Team Leader, administrative and clinical staff within the department to ensure safe efficient community cardiology services
  • Resolve problems for patients, carers and staff as appropriate, making use of relevant information such as appointment timings and waiting times
  • Assist patients and clients during incidental contacts, using own initiative to provide relevant advice and information to patients and relatives within own competency level and escalate to senior clinical staff as required.

  • Maintain appropriate level of knowledge and skill of essential procedures and software programmes.
  • Co-ordinate all aspects medical device management, maintenance and monitor and inform the clinical lead for replacement equipment as required.

  • Utilise new technology and best practice to improve working procedures and techniques.

  • Higher National Certificate, Vocational Qualifications or working towards Level 4, Foundation Degree or equivalent experience
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft packages.
  • BLS and Defibrillator (AED) Training within the last 12 months

  • Immediate Life Support Qualification, expectation to complete within 6 months
