Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic ACPs/Trainee ACPs to work within the Urgent Treatment Centres.

We welcome applications from ACPs, those currently in Trainee ACP programmes and also those wishing to become a trainee ACP

Our UTC sites are Ripley, Ilkeston, Buxton and Whitworth.

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced nurses or allied health professionals to join our existing team of ACPs. Our vacancies are at our Ripley, Whitworth and Ilkeston locations.

A Band 8a position will be offered to candidates who have already completed an MSc in Advanced Practice (or equivalent) and who can demonstrate contemporary experience working at an advanced level within a relevant clinical environment.

A Band 7 trainee position may be offered to an aspiring Advanced Clinical Practitioner who is committed to undertaking an apprenticeship training programme.

If offered a trainee position you will commit to undertaking an apprenticeship programme comprising a 3-year MSc in Advanced Practice and the development of an e-Portfolio to demonstrate your capability across the four pillars.

Trainees will commence on AFC Band 7 pay-scale, anduplifted to Band 8a on successful completion of the MSc, successful submission of their portfolio to a cross-organisational review panel.

Main duties of the job

The role will supports a core team of ACPs across the four units in order to provide a model of seven day service cover, ultimately linking the trainees into a core clinical lead support resource. The GM will be responsible for ensuring that the direction of the service continues.

As an ACP you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership, including direct clinical care, and advice on complex issues in the UTCs
  • Establish a cohesive team approach for the ACP workforce development
  • Support the UTC service leads and managers with audit, innovation, and performance management
  • Lead on training needs discussions, based on audit findings, supervision outputs and individual staff knowledge gaps
  • Assist in feedback for staff appraisals.
  • Deputise for the GM where necessary, if not being carried out by other members of staff.

You will apply advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making to the provision of clinical care to adults and children, presenting with undifferentiated diagnosis both minor injuries and illness within a UTC setting.

You will exercise a high degree of autonomy through the application of advanced clinical skills in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of adults and children.

You will lead and monitor improvements to quality of care through clinical audit, evidence-based practice, clinical supervision, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership.
