Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Speech and Language Therapy Service, supporting administrative and clerical processes.

We are a large and dynamic service of more than 150 staff working across Derbyshire.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to provide a professional administrative support service to the DCHS SLT managers/team leaders and staff.

You will be required to help SLTs, SLPs and SLTAs to deliver an effective clinical service to SLT caseloads by providing efficient administrative and secretarial support.

You will be required to maintain an efficient and effective service of staffing information, maintain confidentiality of clinical and staffing information and communicate well with service providers and users at all levels.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.

  • English Language qualification (for example GCSE or equivalent)
  • NVQ3/RSA III/OCR3/ECDL Advanced or equivalent, CLAIT or equivalent

Desirable

  • Word-processing certificate

Experience and Knowledge Required

Essential

  • Experience of providing secretarial / support services
  • Knowledge of detailed secretarial procedures, software programmes, specialised functional terms
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Telephone experience

Desirable

  • Understanding of speech and language therapy

  • Precise message taking and relaying of messages and ability to deal with interruptions
