Job summary
We are looking for someone to join our large multi-disciplinary team, working primarily with the Specialist Doctor for Vasectomy.
They will be responsible for the delivery of non-scalpel vasectomies, within the integrated sexual health service, working from Wheatbridge ISHS and Heanor Memorial Hospital.
This opportunity can include pre-employment training for the successful candidate if they are not currently trained to undertake vasectomies.
The post would formally commence upon successful completion of the SSM vasectomy certification.
The post holder will have the opportunity to shape the development of the department and its workload through future business plans.
They will have opportunity to contribution to departmental research, audit and clinical governance.
The appointment is on a part-time, based on 1 full day (2 PA) a fortnight (either a Thursday or Friday depending on the availability of the successful candidate).
Main duties of the job
- To perform non-scalpel vasectomies under local anaesthesia and assist with the organisation of surgical lists.
- To provide service users with pre-operative counselling; including information about the procedure, the consent process, contraception, and aftercare.
- To provide support and information to clients during the procedure and immediately post-operatively andreview post operative semen analysis results
