Qualifications

Essential

• Good standard of education up to GCSE or equivalent
• NVQ Level 2 in care/rehabilitation or equivalent

Desirable

• Equivalent Care related study
• NVQ Level 3 working towards level 3 or equivalent

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working in healthcare or rehabilitation setting
• Experience working independently with people with physical and/or emotional needs arising from a long-term health condition.
• Experience with admin duties

Desirable

• Previous community experience
• Previous experience of being a generic worker within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience of working as a Therapy or Nursing Assistant/rehab technician
• Experience of working with people with impaired ability to communicate
• Experience working in the NHS

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Essential

• Full and valid driving licence
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Excellent IT skills, able to confidently use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint
• Ability to deal with distressing and emotionally difficult situations
• Observation and reporting skills
• Understanding the needs of patients undergoing rehabilitation
• Ability to keep accurate, up to date records

Desirable

• Knowledge of the role of other members of the multi-disciplinary team
• Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (2005)
• Able to use SystmOne

Communication

Essential

• Ability to engage well with people with an impaired ability to communicate
• Able to respond with compassion, sensitivity and empathy to people with emotional needs
• Able to communicate in English Language in both written and verbal modality

Desirable

• Ability to communicate with patients with communication difficulties

Personal Attributes/Behaviours

Essential

• Able to drive a vehicle as this will be required as part of the role
• Able to identify with the Trust's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team under guidance of qualified professional with clear direction

Other

Essential

• Flexible and adaptable
• Able to work over a seven-day rota
• Be able to kneel, bend & stoop, and work in cramped environments
• Able to manoeuvre limbs of around 5-6 kg
• Able to manoeuvre patients using moving and handling aids
• Must hold full and valid driving licence
