Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Intensive Support Service

Job responsibilities

To be an active member of the integrated multi-disciplinary intensive support community team for people with learning disabilities.

To be responsible for a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To provide clinical supervision and clinical leadership to other SLT staff as required.

To be part of the planning, development and evaluation of Specialist SLT services across the county to help ensure the consistency of high quality and efficient clinical services.

To deliver services in line with the appropriate clinical pathways/specification requirements.

To provide practice placements for SLT students, as required

Qualifications

Essential

• oRelevant degree from a course accredited by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
• oHealth and Care Professions Council (HCPC)- registration
• oBasic post graduate dysphagia training or equivalent.

Desirable

• oLeadership and first line management experience
• oPractice placement qualification and postgraduate training relevant to learning disabilities

Experience

• oRelevant post registration experience
• oExperience of working with people with learning disabilities and their carers

Desirable

• oExperience of community working
• oExperience of research or audit
• oTo have experience and knowledge of Makaton/Sign-a-long (sign Supported English)
