Job summary

Main duties of the job

NCHC has a number of multidisciplinary roles within a modern, new build therapy led unit in Norwich opening in 2024.

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative Band 5 Inpatient Staff Nurse who is committed to delivering exceptional patient-centred care and join our exciting journey to build our new unit creating a supportive and comfortable environment for 48 patients at NCH&C's Norwich Community Hospital site. Healthcare will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals dedicated to patient recovery and well-being.

Utilising the latest therapy and rehabilitation technology and practices, you will be a part of this new team and will play a pivotal role in supporting patients back into the community and, in this role, we can offer you the opportunity to play a significant part in both the development of the team and therapy led, reablement culture within a brand-new unit.

  • Is wholly responsible for his/her practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of professional conduct. Takes every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve his/her knowledge and professional competence. To continue any development highlighted through the appraisal process and attend mandatory and specific training sessions.
  • Plan and assess programs of care with realistic nursing and reablement goals with the consultation of patient, family and multidisciplinary team.
  • To be sensitive to patients needs in respect of courtesy, dignity and Privacy.
  • Promote effective communication with the multi-professional.
  • Provide information and education, which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle (in an appropriate manner to meet patients learning needs).
  • Recommend innovative changes in clinical practice, to enhance patient care.
  • Participate in audit processes and action outcomes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of research and application to clinical practice.
  • Use clinical expertise and knowledge to promote reablement care. Taking on a Link nurse role where appropriate.

  • Assist with the induction of new staff and students, acting as a mentor.
  • Act as a role model giving guidance and support to relevant staff and students.
