Are you a healthcare assistant or clinical support worker with a passion for working with children and young people?
The Children's Centre at Norwich Community Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic clinical support worker to provide a pre-clinic, and support the day-to-day running of the centre and the community paediatrician appointments.
The clinical support worker will facilitate the efficient running of the Children's Centre by supporting the day-to-day running of clinics, performing clinical duties during a pre-clinic, maintaining the equipment, managing stock levels, and performing infection control procedures.
Main duties of the job
- To book appointments for and perform the pre-clinic appointments which includes but not limited to anthropometric measurements, general concerns, and holistic assessments.
- To report to registered staff any patient that gives cause for concern or any observed changes in a patient's clinical condition.
- To support patient's emotional well-being by supporting positive conversations.
- To accurately document all care delivered to patients, including recording documentation electronically on trust systems maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- To greet, interact with, and emotionally support the patient's and attendees of the Children's Centre
- To book appointments for patients to attend follow-up appointments with the Community Paediatric service.
- To assist and take responsibility for maintaining medical devices and clinical equipment, including decontamination, taking devices to families and keeping accurate records.
- Be responsible for the ordering of medical / surgical supplies and ensure these are stored correctly.
- To adhere to trust infection control procedures, including the cleaning of toys and clinic rooms.
- To chaperone/escort patients to other clinical departments and or NHS Units under the direction of the Community Paediatrician or RN.
- To provide reception cover at the Children's Centre, responding to patient and attendee queries, and answering the telephone
