Job summary

To undertake a clinical role in podiatry delivering high quality, evidence-based community podiatry within a geographical locality, under the direction and with support of the Community Podiatry Clinical and Team Lead.

To undertake assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning for patients who have specialist care needs. To carry and be responsible for own caseload.

Main duties of the job

To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients who require specialised care, and to organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and those of other staff.

To undertake comprehensive specialist assessment, treatment, and the evaluation of outcomes of community podiatry patients, with a variety of presentations, including nail surgery. The work will be carried out in the clinic, nursing home, hospital and domiciliary setting.

To receive and provide complex, sensitive information. In communicating effectively with patients and carers, skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, and gaining informed consent will be used. Barriers of effective communication will evident with some patients e.g. impaired hearing, altered perception, speaking a language other than English, pain and fear. Patients may lack the ability to consent to treatment.
