Job summary

We are looking to recruit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) who will also take on the role as the ADHD Nursing Team Clinical lead. We are looking for someone to take on a full time, 1 whole time equivalent role. The role is a combination of patient facing work within the clinic environment and team leadership. At present clinics are held Monday - Friday; however there is potential scope to expand to late night or weekends to meet service demands.

As a clinical lead, you would be leading a skilled and dynamic team of ADHD nurses who are RMN and RNLD by clinical background. The Team is highly supportive and made up of Band 6 and Band 7 Teams members, and fosters close relationships with other aspects of the Children's Community Services pathway: in particular the neurodevelopmental assessment pathway (NDS), the community Paediatricians and the Starfish Learning Disability CAMHS Team.

This is a Band 8a post, but we would accept a newly qualified Nurse Practitioner on a Band 7 preceptorship with a view to progressing to band 8a over time and appropriate CPD.

Main duties of the job

The service is evolving and expanding, and a number of team members are furthering themselves with CPD; managing the service need alongside individual team members development will be part of the clinical leadership role. Well developed leadership and problem solving skills will be essential to the role and an ability to work within a compassionate leadership model would be beneficial.

The team offer ADHD medication reviews at NCHC sites across Norwich, Attleborough, Long Stratton, North Walsham, Swaffham and King's Lynn. Team members are based offices in either Norwich or King's Lynn, with travel expected across sites.

As an ANP, you will be an experienced non-medical prescriber in the field of ADHD, able to work autonomously and make complex decisions within a clinic environment. You will have extensive experience of complex neurodevelopmental assessment including Qb Testing as well take a patient centred approach to managing adverse medication effects, safeguarding and mental health needs alongside co-morbid neurodevelopment differences. You will be able to prioritise the needs of the child / young person whilst containing the family within a clinic setting.

The role will require the ANP to feel comfortable supporting other team members to learn and expand their medicines knowledge and be an expert point of contact should they have any queries that arise in their own clinics.

Job Purpose

1. Clinical

1. The ANP will lead and maintain a nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts, and innovation.

2. Act as an advanced practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional nursing roles.

3. Undertake comprehensive clinical consultations with patients as an autonomous practitioner using their own clinical judgement to treat, refer and/or discharge patients.

4. Make direct referrals to primary, secondary, and tertiary services as well as social care referrals within locally agreed pathways, guidance, and protocols.

5. Ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care, delivered in a timely manner.

6. Prescribe medicines as indicated to address patient needs in accordance with own practice or within PGDs.

7. Ensure accurate and complete documentation of each and every patient contact.

8. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team in order to ensure patients needs are met.

9. Utilise critical thinking and problem-solving skills including critical reflection.

2. 5. Ordering and interpreting appropriate investigations adhering to Trust policies and within own limitations, in order to provide differential clinical judgements and treatment options.

6. Undertaking appropriate nursing duties to provide / organise essential treatment for patients referred to the unit, working within own boundaries and accepting own limitations.

7. Provide complex assessments for children and young people with suspected Autism or ADHD and formulate a care plan.

8. Recognising when there is a need for escalation of treatment for medical attention and ensuring the appropriate health care professional is called to facilitate optimum patient care

9. Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous, and timely care records.

10. Participating in discharge of patients compiling discharge summaries and prescribing medications to take home
