Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an occupational therapist with a real interest in working with children to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a secondment. We are a friendly, supportive team with regular supervision available both formally and informally. This post is suitable for newly qualified occupational therapists, those looking to move into children's services from another specialism or someone returning to practice as full training and support for the work you do will be provided. You will see children and young people (0-19) in clinic and in the community both at home and in their education settings. We cover a large area of rural Norfolk so you must be prepared and able to drive to where the children need us.

Main duties of the job

You will manage a complex clinical caseload and will need to be familiar with equipment to support postural management such as seating and sleep systems, you will also need to be confident assessing moving and handling needs and creating plans to support school staff. You will be an excellent problem solver and be able to give advice and recommendations to families and other professionals alike.

As a team, we see children and young people from 0-19 years old with a wide range of physical disabilities, health issues and associated learning disabilities. We see them in clinics, at home and in their educational placements. We cover a large rural area as well as Norwich, so it is essential that you can drive and have access to a vehicle when pool cars are not available. All staff have regular clinical and managerial supervision from experienced children's occupational therapists.

About us

We are currently part of a very exciting national pilot looking at different ways to integrate children's services. Our pilot is developing new ways for the various pockets of Norfolk's children's occupational therapists to work together and to share resources and expertise. As such, we have teams from the 3 acute hospitals, community NHS and social care working together to become an integrated offer to our children and families. This is an amazing opportunity to help shape the service we offer going forward.

Apply now to join an organisation that has been awarded an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the highest possible rating and the first stand-alone NHS community trust in the country to be awarded the title.
