Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new team member to join our Clinical Engineering team at Norfolk Community Health & Care Trust.

This role will be required to also work alongside our wheelchair repairs team.

This hybrid working will give a new team member a good insight of how to different services operate alongside each other.

This role requires you to manage demand of our decontamination process for mattress and wheelchairs. Prioritisation, communication, IT skills, manual handling are key areas required to undertake this role.

Main duties of the job

Supervised by the Chief Technician, the post holder will work closely to Clinical Engineering Department & Wheelchair Repairs to providing decontamination, assembling, and testing a wide range of medical bed mattresses. The post holder will also be required to decontaminate wheelchairs and cushions for either refurbishment or to be sent back to the wards.

Job responsibilities

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  1. To achieve and maintain a thorough knowledge of decontamination methods and the work instructions used within the department.
  2. To achieve competency in the inspection and processing of mattresses and wheelchairs in accordance with the manufacturers guidance.
  3. Ensure manufacturers guidelines and local policies for decontamination processes are followed.
  4. To achieve competency in the repairing and assembling of mattresses.
  5. To achieve competency in jet washing/cleaning used wheelchairs to a high standard
  6. To organise work in an efficient and effective way, prioritising the workflow to meet deadlines depending on customers requirements to ensure that the users services function without disruption.
  7. To assess and monitor workflow to ensure the efficient use of resources.
  8. To ensure that all equipment is working satisfactorily, maintaining records of all daily checks that are carried out and any breakdowns that occur.
  9. Ensure that stock holding in the production areas is kept at appropriate levels to meet the requirements of daily production.
  10. Undertake weekly legionella flushing on all taps at The Red House record findings
  11. Take receipt of equipment deliveries and dismantle boxes for recycling
  12. Support with any loading and unloading of equipment from vehicles.
  13. General cleaning of the workshop and warehouse Sweeping raising any risk to the Wheelchair Team Lead.
  14. The post holder will be required to have basic IT skills
  15. The post holder will be required to enter data onto the asset management system
