This exciting new post has arisen from additional investment and the development of an innovative nurse-led pathway for psychiatric medication for children/young people with a learning disability. The service will offer a joined-up approach for children/young people, reducing the need for psychiatric intervention with a commitment to STOMP/STAMP agenda and principles.
We are seeking an inspirational individual to provide expert nurse leadership, advice and clinical consultancy to nurses and multidisciplinary teams for medication and nursing pathways across the LD CAMHS Team (Starfish) and ADHD nursing services. This post would ideally suit someone with a passion for working with children and young people and their families and who has expertise in learning disabilities and mental health, experience of nurse prescribing, and is collegiate, innovative and flexible in their approach.
You will join our hardworking, compassionate, and flexible multi-disciplinary Starfish and ADHD teams based within an "Outstanding" CQC rated NHS Trust. The post holder will work across Norfolk, including Norwich, Kings Lynn, and Great Yarmouth. The base is negotiable and flexible working is supported, including agile/home working where relevant.
Main duties of the job
The Consultant Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for the leadership of the Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners in Children and Young People's Learning Disabilities Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (LD CAMHS) and Neurodiversity Disorders (NDD) related services within the Trust. Developing staff potential and enabling transformational opportunities that support and develop high quality, person-centred, holistic services in line with local, regional and national guidelines is essential. They will provide expert and supportive consultation for non-medical psychotropic prescribing across the LD CAMHS and ADHD pathways and act as an assessor for those staff undertaking training for V300 qualifications.
Working strategically across a range of health/social care settings provided locally by statutory, private, and voluntary sector agencies to provide expert nursing practice and advice to support and push forward an evidence-based approach within ethical frameworks when contributing to commissioning and planning new services. Developing innovative new approaches to collaborative working alongside medical, clinical, and social care practitioners. They will enhance the quality of experience of children/young people and their families by providing high level training and supervision to develop nursing staff, multi professional staff knowledge and skills.
