The Priscilla Bacon Lodge is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit serving people of Norfolk who require an inpatient stay and Consultant-led MDT approach to managing complex physical, psychological and spiritual needs in the palliative phase of illness and as they approach the end of life. The unit currently sits at the Colman Hospital site on Unthank Road in central Norwich, however, it is soon to be re-located to an exciting new charitably funded purpose-built facility located on the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital site.

There is also an out of hours rapid response service and a 24/7 advice line for patients, carers and healthcare professionals which this post-holder would operationally oversee.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder would ensure that the teams within their portfolio work closely together to provide seamless, high quality care, as well as linking-in with key stakeholders in acute hospitals, primary care, and community nursing to ensure that we provide specialist support, education and advice for the benefit of palliative and end of life care patients across the whole pathway.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of services within the Specialist Palliative Care portfolio; including Priscilla Bacon Lodge (PBL) specialist palliative care unit, Community Specialist Palliative Care Nursing Team, the 24/7 advice line and Rapid Response service.
You will need to have a clear vision and be an inspirational leader who can make a difference to both the quality of care and experience of our patients in the palliative and end of life phases of illness, for which we only have one chance to get it right.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, people management skills, communication skills and a commitment to improving the quality of services for all patients accessing our services and their families.
