Job summary

The communications, marketing and staff engagement team at NCH&C is responsible for internal communications with the trust's 2,800 staff, media relations, crisis management, public awareness campaigns, corporate identity, design of all corporate materials, web and intranet management, award events, and videos.

This is a busy department and the role of Digital Communications Officer will suit someone who has strong organisational skills combined with a naturally inquisitive mind.

The post holder will contribute to the successful overall performance of NCH&C and will be responsible for the day to day management of the trust's website, intranet, app, digital designs, and its social media channels. They will devise communications plans for the trust and work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver multi-channel campaigns.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the Communications, Marketing and Staff Engagement Team, ensuring the effective communication of key messages across the Trust's digital communications channels.

Responsible for planning and implementing communications projects/campaigns, focused on digital communication campaigns.

Responsible for providing communications, marketing communications and media advice to managers, staff and committees across the trust.

Undertake administrative tasks for the team.

Responsible for developing and editing existing multi-media content on digital channels including the trust's website, intranet and social media, ensuring it is appropriate for the target audience.

Act as the central point for handling website and intranet enquiries and requests from trust colleagues.

Ensure content on all digital channels meet and maintain the high standards of accessibility and usability at all times.

Use graphic design packages and editing software to create engaging content to support communication campaigns and projects.

Support the development and implementation of marketing plans for key NCH&C marketing campaigns and services i.e. recruitment, apprenticeships, and The Charitable Fund.

Support NCH&C events and campaigns to ensure all activities are carried out professionally

Occasional out of hours work may be required to support events e.g. Annual General Meeting/staff recognition event, local events in different parts of the county.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

General

Responsible for planning and implementing communications projects/campaigns, focused on digital communication campaigns.

Responsible for writing, editing, proof-reading and coordinating internal and external publications, including writing of press releases and articles, ensuring the communication of complex, sensitive information is presented in an accessible and understandable way for the targeted audience.

Responsible for providing communications, marketing communications and media advice to managers, staff and committees across the trust.

Undertake administrative tasks for the team including oversight of the Communications Inbox, reviewing enquiries and responding to these where possible or redirecting to another member of the team.

Identify and build effective working relationships with staff across the trust, key external individuals and organisations including suppliers and press organisations, and patient and community representatives.

Work as a member of the Communications, Marketing and Staff Engagement Team, ensuring the effective communication of key messages across the Trusts digital communications channels.

Provide support to the Communications and Marketing Manager in delivering NCH&Cs communications strategy.

Follow all trust policies and communication team processes and protocols, and comment on processes as required during review

Media Relations

Identify proactive media opportunities, to promote the work of NCH&C.

Maintain systems to track and record the media coverage NCH&C receives. Responsible for preparing activity reports as required.

Digital and Social Media

Responsible for developing and editing existing multi-media content on digital channels including the trusts website, intranet and social media, ensuring it is appropriate for the target audience and adheres to the trusts policies and guidance.

Act as the central point for handling website enquiries and requests from trust colleagues.

Manage and prioritise content requests for the trust digital channels, scheduling updates and forwarding complex issues to the relevant member of the team.

Ensure content on all digital channels meet and maintain the high standards of accessibility and usability at all times.

Edit and advise on digital content created by others, ensuring the trusts policies and guidance are adhered to at all time.

Develop an excellent working knowledge of the trusts content management system (CMS) and act as the central point for all CMS enquiries.

Support CMS users across the trust, monitoring and overseeing their access and updates.

Manage CMS user accounts, ensuring current permission and access levels are maintained, and undertake regular audit to provide assurance.

Update and monitor all external and internal digital media channels including intranet, electronic message, internet and social media.

Responsible for tracking and analysing data and making recommendations for improvements considering the options available.

Coordinate photography and images for use in trust communications.

Use graphic design packages and editing software to create engaging content to support communication campaigns and projects.

Assist with major projects on the website and intranet, for example scoping upgrade projects and user testing exercises.

Work closely with the Communications Manager to ensure corporate and operational messaging is communicated promptly, accurately and effectively via digital media channels.

Responsible for video editing to create content for trust communication channels including podcasts.

Support the development and implementation of marketing plans for key NCH&C marketing campaigns and services i.e. recruitment, apprenticeships, and The Charitable Fund.

Run Pay Per Click (PPC) and social media ad campaigns as directed for specific programmes including recruitment and apprenticeship marketing programmes.

Provide advice and support to divisions, departments and individuals to maximise intranet/internet effectiveness and use, and to ensure consistent format and content style.

Liaise with external agencies in the development of web and digital channels.

Communications and publications

Support internal and external communications to a range of stakeholders including staff, media, patients, public and stakeholders.

Prepare content to support the delivery and timely production of high-quality NCH&C publications and briefings.
