Job summary

Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care to a named group of patients.Work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.Work proactively within the team to achieve unit and trust goals and objectives.Work with and promote recognised policies, protocols and guidelines.

Main duties of the job

1. Responsible for own practice in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of professional conduct. Maintain knowledge and professional competence. Attend training .2. Plan and assess care with realistic nursing goals in consultation with patient, family and multidisciplinary team.3. Be sensitive to patients needs.4. Provide information and education, to enable patients to make healthier choices.6. Recommend innovative changes in clinical practice to enhance patient care.7. Participate in audit process8. Demonstrate an understanding of research in clinical practice.9. Use clinical expertise and knowledge to promote a 'nurse led' approach.10. Ensure the safe control and custody of drugs. according to Trust Policy.11. Inform the Sister of changes which may affect safe and competent practice.12. Accurately document patient care legibly and in a timely manner.13. Work collaboratively with outside agencies.

Ogden Court is a 21 bedded unit providing rehabilitation to a wide group of patients with varying complexities of needs. Our patients come to us following medical, surgical or orthopaedic treatment or if appropriate, directly from their own homes.

Opportunities for further training and development are available. You will receive support/development through in service training, regular appraisals and clinical supervision. This post involves rotation between day and night duties.
