Job summary

Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCHC) is recruiting a Deputy Named Professional in Safeguarding Children. You will work within an established team of clinicians who are passionate about safeguarding, ensuring it is the golden thread that runs through all patient contacts.

The role incorporates a deputising role for the Interim Head of Safeguarding when executing their Named Nurse responsibilities. You would be accountable to the Interim Head of Safeguarding.

As a Safeguarding Practitioner you will be responsible for promoting good professional practice and providing all elements of the Safeguarding agenda under the guidance of the Interim Head of Safeguarding.

As the post holder, you will be a highly skilled professional who will provide specialist supervision, training, education, advice, support and promotion of best practice assessments including report writing and risk assessments in relation to all aspects of safeguarding to staff in NCHC.

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide accessible safeguarding support, supervision, and consultation to NCH&C and EACH staff.
  • You will support staff in managing complex child cases, recognising and managing risk within complex and sometimes conflicting information strands.
  • There will be a necessity for you to reassess work planned as safeguarding priorities change.
  • You will develop a 'think family' approach to safeguarding that includes children and adults.
  • You will ensure safeguarding guidance and policies are up to date.
  • You will work in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies.
  • You will provide safeguarding training to all staff groups to enable them to fulfil their safeguarding duties.
  • You will work in partnership with a wide range of disciplines within NCH&C and support the Interim Head of Safeguarding in providing leadership on matters relating to safeguarding
  • You will contribute to Safeguarding report writing.
  • You will be proactive in working with the preventative safeguarding agenda.
  • You will continuously develop your own safeguarding supervision skills
  • You will use and promote new evidence from research.
  • You will embed the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in all areas of the trust.
  • You will carry out quality audits in relation to Safeguarding Practice and Processes.

About us

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic safeguarding professional to join an experienced team of five safeguarding professionals. The team currently consists of an Interim Head of Safeguarding, Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children, Deputy Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and two Deputy Heads of Safeguarding adults. The team is supported by an Administrator shared with the Infection Control team.

As Deputy Named Professional for Children you will be actively involved in the delivery of the safeguarding agenda across the organisation, working for NCHC as an outstanding community trust. This is a great opportunity to work with a team who are developing and improving the safeguarding agenda at all opportunities. The team work closely with the operational teams in ensuring quality goals are developed and met, supporting and offering advice to all staff on all elements of safeguarding.
